In Memory of Those who have Perished in Victoria's Bushfires...and In Honour of the Brave Heroes putting their Lives on the Line to Preserve the Life of Others.

Horrendous. Senseless. Devastating.

Words can't describe what I'm seeing on the news and reading in the paper.

Yesterday at work, Janet asked me if we could possibly do something like a notice to put up for people to make donations for the Bushfire Appeal for Victoria. But me, from having a bad day as work, being a total bitch and speaking before thinking, said "no amount of money is going to bring back the dead", or words to that effect. Basically I was talking that way as a result of the day I had at work. Janet, I'm deeply sorry for that selfish, narrow minded answer I gave you.

This morning, on Sunrise, there was a follow-up story about a guy, Sam Gents, looking desperately for his wife and kids.
"The last anyone saw of them, the kids were running in the house, they were blocked in the house," he said; he had not heard from his wife Tina and three children, aged from six to 15, since the fire swept through nearby Kinglake. "If they let me up the mountain I know where to go [to try and find them]."

But authorities had sealed off the town as bodies were still being recovered.

Authorities wouldn't let him go back home because, get this, it is now a CRIME SCENE. A fucking crime scene!!!

Today, someone has gone to this man's home and found remains of people, yet to be identified.

WE HAVE TO DO ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING WE CAN!!!

I am sitting here, in my home, with more stuff than I need around me. Tears upon tears streaming down my face. I really cannot believe what is going on in this country.

170 people are dead!!!!

Some man has taken advantage of the heat and the drought and as a result 173 people are now dead! I hope the bastard that thought it would be fun to light these killers get everything that's coming to them.

I really feel sorry for those people in Victoria.People who light fires are sick.

Honestly, I wish I knew just what kind of perverted pleasure arsons get out of their work. People dying in flames is a vision I get in my nightmares, and to know that it's actually happening out there is not a comforting fact! I really wish there was something I could do to help, but as it is, I'm struggling and need to hold on to every dollar at the moment. If I had any money to spare, I would certainly help donate to this cause.

To quote a song from Little Shop of Horrors: "They need blood and you've got more than enough!". It's surprising how people are afraid to donate blood, when it's plenty good and obvious that they've got more than they need.

Very noble of you, by the way. Sure, call it emo if you will, but as far as I know, emos only want to lose their blood if it gives them some kind of personal satisfaction. ;) Your cause is noble, to say the least.
